A recent surge of Covid-19 cases resulted in yet another nationwide lockdown in Kenya this month. This puts places in remote areas of the country at great risk as the usual flow of food and other goods stops. Prices increase as available items become less available. The most vulnerable cannot afford essential food items.

The national lockdown puts vulnerable people in Kakuma at great risk.

Our refugee church partners quickly asked if IAFR can help provide them with emergency food assistance for the most vulnerable in the Kakuma area. At the time of their request, we did not have any designated funding available to help. About six hours later, we received a generous and unexpected grant in the mail -designated for our work in Kakuma! God had set provision into motion even before we knew of the need! We sent enough funding to our refugee church partner (United Refugee and Host Churches) so they can purchase nonperishable food items and distribute them among those most in need. They are usually able to supply one month's worth of food to over 600 people.

What a joy and privilege to partner with God as he answers prayer!

Our refugee church partner also asked if we could help them purchase more liquid soap for their 163 churches embedded throughout the camp and host community. We did. The churches are once again serving as soap distribution centers to help protect people from an outbreak of Covid-19.

We will likely need to resupply them with soap in May as well. One 5 liter bottle of soap costs $9. We need 163 bottles. Please pray with us that God will move people to provide for this need.
