People in refugee camps have been dramatically impacted by the decision of the US government to halt foreign aid. Much of the aid distributed by international humanitarian agencies was dependent on US funding. It didn't take long before our friends in Kakuma refugee camp (Kenya) told us that a serious food crisis was unfolding.

IAFR is now partnering with refugee church leaders to get badly needed food assistance to the most vulnerable people in the camp. This includes orphans, widows, pregnant women, single mothers, and those with disabilities. We wish we could help everyone in the camp, but with a population of over 300,000, we have to focus our efforts on the most vulnerable.

Refugee churches are embedded throughout the camp and are well-suited to assess who in their community is most in need. Other community and religious leaders in the camp are also engaged in the assessment and distribution process.

We sponsored our first food distribution in August 2025. 338 families received life-saving food assistance. Every nationality in the camp was represented among the recipients. We are thankful for the refugee church leaders who organized and implemented the distribution. We hope to sponsor another one soon!

We're hoping to provide between $50,000 and $75,000 of emergency assistance before the end of the year. Not only will this help people survive the current crisis, but it will also be a tangible sign that God sees, hears, and cares for them.
