People around the world seek out IAFR for training and consulting as they pursue ministry among refugees and asylum seekers. We are happy to help as it greatly multiplies the impact of our work. Our training relies on principles and best practices gleaned from literally hundreds of years of collective ministry experience.

In 2020, our Director of Training, Rachel Uthmann, expanded our team of core trainers to include Jacob Tornga and Shanna Doughty. They bring a wide variety of refugee ministry experience to training opportunities.

It is our experienced missionaries that make IAFR training so effective.

Most of Jacob's experience has been in Africa among refugees surviving harsh living conditions in remote camps - often for decades.

Rachel's field experience is largely from the European context where highly transitory asylum seekers and refugees are far from home and have yet to find a place to settle.

Shanna's ground breaking ministry in northern Colorado is focused on helping former refugees integrate into their new society - a challenging process that requires the host culture to flex and allow these new neighbors to call Colorado home.

That's why our missionaries are our most valuable asset!

Many of our IAFR missionaries spent time this year speaking and teaching at local churches, schools, and mission related conferences. Altogether our team had the privilege of training people in Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America this year! Of course, due to the Covid pandemic, much of our training was provided online.

God is stirring up many Christians and churches to actively engage refugees in life-giving ways. It is a joy to help prepare and equip them!
