Ukrainian Emergency Response

The Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February unleashed a major humanitarian crisis in Europe. Over four million people have fled Ukraine since that day. The vast majority of these refugees are women and children. The men must stay to fight. Another seven million Ukrainians have fled their homes but not their country (yet).

IAFR was able to quickly identify partners in Ukraine and its neighboring countries through which we are transporting critical relief supplies into Ukraine, getting people out of conflict zones to safety, and providing critical assistance to forcibly displaced people in these countries.

Relief & Rescue from Slovakia

Our partner church in Slovakia has hosted hundreds of Ukrainian refugees in their church building. They have also purchased vehicles that are getting critical relief into Ukrainian conflict zones, including Mariupol and Kharkiv.

Drivers take relief into these cities and then take people out to safety on their return trip. Needless to say, this is extremely dangerous, and they need our prayers.

Our generous financial partners have made it possible for IAFR to invest over $28,000 into their emergency response work since the beginning of the conflict.

We are currently hoping to partner with them to get a transport of 22-25 kilotons of needed food and relief items into the conflict zones of eastern Ukraine. The cost: $40,000.

Relief & Rescue from inside Ukraine

We have invested $31,000 into the emergency response work of our partner in western Ukraine. This enabled them to purchase a large passenger/cargo van (photo). Shortly after Russian troops pulled out of Bucha, the van brought needed generators and other relief to people who survived the atrocities committed there.

The vehicle is also transporting people to the western border of Ukraine so that they can seek refuge in the European Union (EU).

Our partner is also helping internally displaced Ukrainians with shelter, food, and medicine. IAFR has helped them purchase washing machines, install showers, and renovate buildings to provide short-term shelter for displaced people passing through.

They are doing what they can with what they have. They are praying for more funding to help them better meet the needs of the hundreds of internally displaced people they serve.

Please provide for those caught in the conflict.

They need safety.

They need water.

They need food.

They need healing.

They need rescue.

They need peace.

Protect them from evil.

They need to know your good and faithful presence with them.

And we pray for our partners seeking to help others.

Provide for them as they do everything that they can to help people survive and recover from forced displacement.

Renew their strength and hope each day.

Give them courage, wisdom, and discernment as they serve.

Protect them from evil.

They too need to know your good and faithful presence with them.
