Lucy and Joe are students in the HNGR program at Wheaton College. Both had plans to intern with organizations internationally this upcoming semester, however – as we all know – a global pandemic has a way of redirecting plans. Because Lucy and Joe were unable to travel internationally due to Covid-19, they had guidance looking at their options, discovered IAFR, and have decided to join us and intern with our team in Northern Colorado.

I, Shelby, had a chance to connect with them both and hear how they were feeling about everything.

Lucy said it was hard to initially change plans, but she’s been able to mourn that disappointment and is excited to begin working in Fort Morgan. She mentioned that with everything going on in the United States right now, she feels the transition from international to domestic work has felt timely.

Joe said the uncertainty of everything was the hardest part and it feels good to have a plan. He’s excited to begin his internship and have more structure in his daily life.
