Sunday worship in a refugee camp

I saw the full range of emotions as our brothers and sisters in Kakuma sang and worshipped together this morning.

Such worship is precious in the site of God as these brothers and sisters have suffered the trauma of forced displacement. Kakuma is a harsh place. Many of these women, children, and men have been here for one and even more than two decades.

It is their life-giving faith in Jesus Christ that keeps their hope alive. For they know that evil, suffering, and death do not get the last word. Jesus suffered and died a horrible death. But he rose from the dead and demonstrated that life, love, and goodness will ultimately prevail. That is good news.

And so they fix their eyes on the risen Jesus and stand fast.
