Building Again!

We are thrilled to see the building of 3 classrooms on the campus of the Kakuma Interdenominational School of Mission (KISOM) begin today!
Our refugee partner organisation established KISOM back in 1997 as a way of training refugee church leaders. When I first learned of KISOM, it was operating out of a refugee camp primary school after hours. They later moved into a condemned and abandoned refugee school building. That's when IAFR got behind their vision to buy land and build a proper school in a strategic/accessible place.
We funded the building of the initial main hall and 2 offices, a restroom, and guardhouse. That went into operation in 2019. An anonymous foundation in the US then got behind the vision of our refugee partners to build the 3 classrooms on the campus. They should be completed and ready to use before September.

More than 1000 Christian leaders have been trained at KISOM since it began in 1997. Many are pastoring churches in Kakuma refugee camp today. Others are pastoring churches in the surrounding host community. Some have returned to their homelands and are pastoring there. Others have been resettled to Australia, Canada, Europe, and the USA - and yep, you guessed it, they are pastoring churches in these countries.
Only God knows the impact of this refugee school of mission in the world.
We are thankful to our generous financial partners that have invested in this project over the years!
