God Sees, Hears & Cares

A single pregnant mother was forced to flee her abusive community. She was a refugee - unprotected and without place in the world. Despair was overtaking her. But everything changed when she discovered that God sees, hears and cares for her. Her name was Hagar.
God sees. God hears. God cares.
God told her to name her son Ishmael ("God Hears"). And she named God El-roi ("The God who Sees Me") and the place in which God revealed himself to her Beer-lahai-roi ("The Well of the Living One Who Sees Me"). Such was the faith that overcame despair with hope and carried Hagar through her difficult life.*
This revelation is as life-changing today as it was then. While it is good news for us all, it is especially good news for those who have been forcibly displaced.
*Read the story of Hagar in Genesis 16 and 21
Without hope the human spirit withers and dies.
I can't tell you how many times I've shared the story of Hagar with our displaced friends after listening to them share their heart-wrenching stories. It offers a natural segue to pray together to the God who sees, hears, and cares for us. And this truth points directly toward the life, suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ - who is the ultimate revelation of this very truth and the source of unshakeable hope.
As our team launches into the new year, we look forward to sharing this good news with our displaced friends. For we know that without hope the human spirit withers and dies.
Many thanks to our faithful and generous financial partners who make it possible for our team to show up in the lives of refugees and asylum seekers every day!
