Happy Thanksgiving!

My forcibly displaced friends have taught me that it is possible to be genuinely thankful even in the midst of life's struggles.

Hard rains fell during a recent visit to a refugee camp. Flash floods damaged mud brick shelters. Parts of the camp were cut off from one another. And everyone knows that after the rains begin, malaria and typhoid will spread across the camp.

And yet they are grateful.

And yet, the people there consider the rains a great blessing. I asked a friend about that. He said, "It is true. The rains cause some difficulties. But we also know that water is life - there is no life without it. And so here in this semi desert, we thank God for the rains."

This conversation has stayed with me. It challenges me to cultivate a grateful spirit.

"Give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things." Psalm 107:8-9

Speaking of thanks...

I am deeply grateful for people like you - our generous financial partners and for those who faithfully stand with us in prayer. You make it possible for our team to show up in the lives of refugees and asylum seekers every day!
