More than Spectators
Jun 14, 2023
- Tom Albinson
What possible encouragement do we have to share with people who have been driven far from their homes, stripped of their belongings, and uprooted from their place in the world?
Sometimes the world takes note of their suffering, and we hear about it on the radio or see it on the internet or on TV. The nonstop flow of such news can overwhelm and numb our souls, especially when we feel like we can do nothing to help.
God is not a spectator.
I take heart by calling to mind that God is not a spectator. God isn’t watching our lives unfold from a distance. God is active and engaged in time and space. God sees, God hears, and God cares. And one of the ways God demonstrates God’s care is through God’s people. God often chooses to invite us to be a tangible expression of God’s love for others.
Helping you be more than a spectator.
You are receiving this email because you care about people in the world who have been uprooted by violence and hatred – refugees and asylum seekers.
IAFR is here to help you see, hear, and care for them. One of the ways you can do that is to help us meet our goal of raising $15,000 for our Sustaining Fund by June 20th (World Refugee Day). Every donation of $25, $50, $75, $100, or more will help us reach out goal.
Let's raise $15,000 by June 20th - World Refugee Day
