Sacrificial Generosity

I visited at least five churches in Kalobeyei refugee settlement today – all of which received building materials from IAFR this year in order to put a roof over their churches.
The pastor of this church surprised us with this hand made Burundian woven basket filled with five fresh eggs and a large portion of roasted peanuts.
They did not give because they have a surplus of these things. They gave even though they struggle to get by on their meager food ration each month. This was an act of sacrificial generosity. It was a costly expression of love.
Their gift is both an encouragement and an inspiration. I need to become more like them.
