The Flag

How strange to see the American flag on the gate of the refugee reception center inside of Kakuma refugee camp – the place in which all people coming to Kakuma begin their refugee experience.
The US has all but shut down it’s refugee resettlement program in the past 3 years. Although many of these people hope to be resettled within a few years, it is likely that they will spend a decade or two (or even more) in this harsh place like those who arrived before them.
Many of the pastors with whom we partner have been here for decades.
