Kakuma Strategic Worker
Nicholas Gagai is a Kenyan. He was forcibly displaced from his hometown by post election violence in 2007 and ended up in Kakuma, Kenya. He served full-time with our refugee partner United Refugee and Host Churches (URHC) for 10 years with no sending agency. He often made ends meet through the generosity of the refugees he serves. But budget cuts have reduced food rations and NGO services in Kakuma. Refugees are no longer able to support Nicholas as they have in the past. URHC leadership asked IAFR if we would assist them by supporting Nicholas so that he can continue in full-time ministry. As we have already established a long-term relationship of trust with Nicholas and know the critical role he plays in the ministry of URHC, we were happy to agree to help in this way. Nicholas is URHC Director of the Kakuma Interdenominational School of Mission (KISOM) and the Director of URHC Youth Ministry. IAFR is deeply invested in both of these URHC ministries.
The Opportunity
Nicholas has a few faithful donors regularly supporting his ministry. He needs 6 more people to support him at $50/month. Join in his important ministry by donating today.
The Goal
The support need for Nicholas Gagai's ministry is $375/month ($4,500/year). In order to keep the ministry of Nicholaus going strong in 2025, we are praying for financial partners to contribute $4,000 by the end of 2024.
The Strategy
Our strategy is simple, we are asking the Church at large to serve the refugee churches in Kakuma by supporting the strategic ministry of Nicholaus as he directs the Kakuma Interdenominational School of Mission (KISOM) and serves as director of the Youth Ministry serving over 160 churches in Kakuma.
The Progress
Generous financial partners have been chipping in to help fund the ministry of Nicholas with our refugee partner since 2018.
