We are supporting a full-time worker developing ministries among refugee children.

Kakuma Strategic Worker

Nicolaus Gagai is a Kenyan. He was forcibly displaced from his hometown by post election violence in 2007 and ended up in Kakuma, Kenya. He served refugees full-time in Kakuma with no sending agency for 10 years before IAFR began helping support him through a local refugee-led organization. During that time, he often made ends meet through the generosity of the refugees he serves. But budget cuts have reduced food rations and NGO services in Kakuma. Refugees are no longer able to support Nicolaus as they have in the past. IAFR has known Nicolaus for many years and highly respects the ways he blesses the refugee community. Today, Nicolaus is primarily working to strengthen children ministries in the camp and serves under the leadership of International Pentecostal Holiness Church Africa (IPHCA) in Kakuma. IAFR is financially sponsoring his ministry through IPHCA. Nicolaus is training diverse church leaders for effective children's ministry in the camp and surrounding host community. He is also leading outreach ministry among street children with the goal of helping them develop and grow spiritually, physically, socially, and intellectually. He aims to help them integrate into safe and supportive communities in the camp and surrounding host community - primarily in partnership with local faith communities.
