We are investing in the lives of refugee youth.

Kakuma Refugee Youth Camp

Youth are among the most underserved refugee populations. Their lives and identities are complicated as they grow up far from their homeland in a place that offers only temporary refuge. Many of them will spend decades in the refugee camp. Their future is uncertain. Their lives are filled with challenges, including a struggle to keep hope alive while growing up in a forgotten refugee camp. Refugee churches play a critical role in their spiritual and social development. Refugee Youth Camp brings diverse kids together for 3-4 days of intense investment into their lives by Christian leaders in the camp and from the surrounding host community. $2,500 sponsors a camp include a suitable space, food, and transport. 258 youth participated in refugee youth camp 2025!

The Opportunity

Give to this project to stand in solidarity with the youth in Kakuma refugee camp. Your gift will help them go to camp - and serve as a tangible expression of God's goodness in their lives. We are praying for financial partners to join with us to make it possible! We hope to sponsor another refugee youth camp before the end of August in 2026!

The Goal

Refugee youth will be encouraged to hold fast to their faith in Jesus and live lives of service and integrity. Youth Camp is an important affirmation of their value to the church and community. As campers represent diverse ethnic and tribal identities in the refugee camp, Youth Camp helps them discover that their shared identity in Christ transcends all other identities, including those that might otherwise be a source of hostility. Financial Goal: $2500/annually makes it possible for our refugee partner, Good Shepherd's Ambassadors Ministry (G-SAM) to bring together over 200 youth for 3-4 days of camp in Kakuma.

The Strategy

Our partner, Good Shepherd's Ambassadors Ministry (G-SAM) is a refugee youth led nonprofit in Kakuma that plans and runs youth camp. Funding comes from generous people like you and from churches with a passion to invest in youth.

Progress

IAFR financial partners sponsored 9 annual refugee youth camps between 2015 - 2025! In 2025, 258 youth participated in youth camp. It was planned around the theme "Arise and Lead! Empowering a Generation of Hope and Purpose". Teaching topics included, leadership, living a purpose driven life, financial literacy, sex education, drugs and substance abuse, and "Hope in a Broken World". The youth expressed interest in discussing the following themes during a future youth camp: identity in Christ, peer pressure, social media anxiety, relationships, leadership, and financial literacy.
